Rice once again summons up the irresistible spirit-world of the oldest and most powerful forces of the night, invisible beings unleashed on an unsuspecting world able to take blood from humans, in a long-awaited return to the extraordinary world of the Vampire Chronicles and the uniquely seductive Queen of the Damned (“mesmerizing” –San Francisco Chronicle), a long-awaited novel that picks up where The Vampire Lestat (“brilliant…its undead characters are utterly alive” –New York Times) left off more than a quarter of a century ago to create an extraordinary new world of spirits and forces–the characters, legend, and lore of all the Vampire Chronicles. via Amazon

I honestly wish I could heap a lot of praise onto this book, because Ann Rice is one of my favorite authors to read. I can’t do that though. This book was hard to read at times and a bit dull as well. There wasn’t a story line that flowed throughout it that kept you reading. There wasn’t anything to make it a page turner. I dare say that if this was her first book or if this book was from a first time author that it might not have gotten published. I believe her name alone got this one into print. I’ve read of her recent struggles, and I understand that a lot of that might have played a part in the downsides of this book. I honestly don’t know if that is true or not, but this isn’t the book I wanted it to be.

With all that said though, I honestly enjoyed parts of this book. There were a few moments where I felt like I couldn’t put it down. I also loved being back in her Vampire world. The Vampires she has created all find a place here. Their voices may not be as strong as before, but it is nice to read about them again and to see they are all doing well.

If you enjoyed The Vampire Chronicles (I’ve read all the books, and enjoyed them) then you should check this one out. It may be tough to read at times, but you will enjoy being back in this world like I was.

Based on the true story of Jordan Belfort, from his rise to a wealthy stock-broker living the high life to his fall involving crime, corruption and the federal government. via The Wolf of Wall Street (2013) – IMDb

I really don’t have much to say about this one other than it was a great movie to watch. The acting, the story, the directing, the score, all of it worked and worked well. It didn’t feel like a three-hour movie to me.

I will say this though, you might want to take a shower after watching it because you just feel dirty for entering this world of sex and greed. I think the greed part got me the most. To see what this guy did to make his fortune makes you cringe. Amazing what greed and power can make some people do.

Have you read Prince Lestat? Have you seen The Wolf of Wall Street? Let me know what you thought of them if you did.
