Movie 1: The Lazarus Effect
1 and a half stars out of 5
The first hour of this movie was solid. It had a couple of creepy moments and it looked to be building to something grand. After that hour mark the movie just took a turn towards crap. It kept turning until the movie was just plain crap. In the end what promised to be a decent horror movie turned out to be just another movie with a great idea that was never fully brought to potential. It is streaming on Netflix if you want to see how bad it gets.
Movie 2: 50 Shades of Grey
2 Stars out of 5
How about 50 Shades of Dull? This movie really had nothing going for it. There was no chemistry between the leads, no romance, no real story, and the taboo stuff was so watered down that it felt like they were really holding back. It also seemed rushed. It could have been a lot better, but I guess a book like this will always have trouble getting made right without someone willing to take chances.
Movie 3: Stage Fright
2 and a half stars out of 5
A Slasher Musical. Yes, please? This was better than I thought it would, and could have been great with a better budget. The songs are at times catchy and there are some funny unexpected moments as well. It is streaming on Netflix if you want to see it.
Movie 4: Burying the Ex
3 stars out of 5
The best of the bunch, and much better than I thought it would be. It had a solid story and direction, great cast and gore, and it also had Joe Dante behind the lens. It is entertaining from start to finish. It is also streaming on Netflix. If you like goofy horror comedy’s then this is your movie.
So, have you seen any of these? Thoughts about them.
