The radio fell silent, as the car sat there and idled or did it growl–the boys could have sworn they just heard that noise coming from underneath the hood.
Mike and Vinnie looked at one another.
“Mike. What the hell’s going on?”
“I don’t know, Vin.”
“You must have been running her too hard?”
“Please. My uncle runs her harder than this.”
“Hello, Gentleman.” The radio replied, as the door locks clicked into place, trapping them.
“What the hell’s going on, Mike!”
The boys yanked on the door handles, but they weren’t budging no matter how much they tugged on them.
“I don’t know, Vin!”
“Fellows, please relax. You have nothing to fear. I’m here to take you on a trip.” The voice from the radio sounded like it was echoing out of some deep dank crypt where scary wet things slithered around in the darkness.
“Trip?” Mike asked, trying to sound calm. “I don’t want to go on no trip with you.”
Did that tickle your horror fancy? I hope so. You can grab a free copy of “Joyride” today and tomorrow at the links below. I also want to unveil the latest cover for “Joyride,” and one that I am very proud of. I made this one all by myself using free stuff I found online. Amazing what you can do if you just go cheap. Anyway, here is the old and new cover. Look for another new cover and another freebie next Thursday. Click back to see what it is.
I think this cover now will stand out in a crowd. Very creepy to look at. It even spooks me, and I made it. Here are those links to get it.
A Joyride in a Chevy Chevelle. The car was just sitting there for the taking. What could possibly go wrong? Vinnie and Mike are about to find out what can and will go wrong once they turn the key. Evil awaits. Ride shotgun if you dare with this short story.
