E-Book Review Haiku: Dune

A desert planet

Filled with valuable spice

One man holds the key

(5 Stars out of 5)

I just finished reading Dune for the very first time, and I hate that I haven’t tried to read it sooner. I honestly didn’t mean to read it, but when I bought it for my wife’s kindle I was able to read it on mine. I thought I might try it out just to see what all the hype was about. I am glad I did. This turned out to be a great reading experience. The story just sucked me right in. If you haven’t read it, you should. It is well worth the time.

So, have you read Dune? Have you read any of the sequels? Have you seen the movie? I would love to hear your thoughts on all of it.

“Unique…I know nothing comparable to it except Lord of the Rings.”–Arthur C. ClarkeHere is the novel that will be forever considered a triumph of the imagination. Set on the desert planet Arrakis, Dune is the story of the boy Paul Atreides, who would become the mysterious man known as Maud’dib. He would avenge the traitorous plot against his noble family–and would bring to fruition humankind’s most ancient and unattainable dream.A stunning blend of adventure and mysticism, environmentalism and politics, Dune won the first Nebula Award, shared the Hugo Award, and formed the basis of what is undoubtedly the grandest epic in science fiction. Frank Herbert‘s death in 1986 was a tragic loss, yet the astounding legacy of his visionary fiction will live forever.

I also can’t post about Dune without dropping in this great song by Iron Maiden. This song finally makes sense to me now after reading the book.
