Another year. Another massacre looming. When the sun rises on the Old West town of Saltwater Junction this town will face head on two fierce predators. Vampires who stalk you in the sunlight, and werewolves that transform with the sunrise. This short story rewrites the legends and all you’ve ever known about these creatures of the night. Where do you go when there’s no place left to hide?
5 out of 5 Stars – Kudos for a new spin

When everyone was outside and heading home, Deputy Dewert Reclintlock, who had been standing behind the sheriff the whole time, stepped up to his boss, who was watching the townsfolk through the open church doors. Dewert stood five feet tall, stocky, with a big mustache and shaved head under his black cowboy hat. He was a newcomer last year, and it was his first time witnessing what so many had witnessed before. He had many nights and days since then when he had thought about packing it up, heading somewhere else, but he loved this town. He loved the people, and he loved taking care of them.
“It seems backwards, you know. All the tales I have known say Werewolves change with the full moon, and Vampires are supposed to burn in the sun, not thrive in it. It just seems messed up to me,” Dewert replied.
“Well, legends are meant to be broken, and somewhere along the way this one really got busted.”
“Do you think we can stop it this year?”
The sheriff looked at Dewert, eye color a soft shade of green (it was his peace color, the one he used when he had a dispute to deal with), and then back out the door. “Yes, I really do think we can. I do believe we can stop it here before it begins.”
