Tales from the Blog (8/20/2017): Devil at the Wheel 12

“I don’t know, Vin!”

“Fellows, please relax. You have nothing to fear. I’m here to take you on a trip.” The voice from the radio sounded like it was echoing out of some deep dank crypt where scary wet things slithered around in the darkness.

“Trip?” Mike asked, trying to sound calm. “I don’t want to go on no trip with you.”

“I’ve had enough of this. I’m breaking the fucking window and getting the fuck out of here!” Vin reached for the glove box, hoping to find something hard enough to break glass, and just as he reached for the handle, the seat belt lifted up into the air, slid across his body, and clicked into place.

Mike’s seat belt did the same thing.

The boys were now trapped in their seats . . . to be continued next Sunday at 6 A.M. Did you miss a post? Check out the Category “Tales from the Blog” in order to catch up. Have a great Sunday.

Mike decides to help the old man fight his way through the hordes in order to gain safe passage on his boat.

Mike pulled his truck up to the curb, unlatched his seat belt, and fell out of the cab onto the ground. He stood up and looked at his house, as Trivium screamed out a metal beat from the cab of his truck. He then looked up and down the street, twice more to be sure he wasn’t seeing things. Zombies, those things from the TV shows and movies he loved to watch, littered the streets in all directions. They were all around him, and as he stood there several of them tried to attack. He grabbed a tire iron and whacked both of them in the head, shattering their undead skulls, splattering blood all over the ground. He made his feet start moving and hurried up to his front door, which was hanging slightly open. He pushed it inward and what he saw stunned him.

So much blood.

Gallons and gallons of it.

Dripping from the light fixtures.

Splattered on the walls.

The ceiling.

The hallway floor.

Five zombies lay dead, a rolling pin and cast iron skillet covered in blood and hair lay scattered near them. Mike looked from the dead zombies to the trail of blood leading to the back door. He saw one of his kid’s shoes and one of his wife’s laying in the blood trail.

Tuesday Promotions (8/15/2017): Nightlight Tales (Sandy and The Stranger)

5 out of 5 stars – Terrific plots and plenty of chills and thrills

13 tales of terror.

13 tales that will have you reaching for the nightlight before you go to bed tonight.

Sandy and The Stranger

The drag strip/abandoned road was nearing its last run for the night. Two competitors were left. Sandy in his black Chevy Nova, and Larry in his Ford Mustang. Both cars were powerful machines, filled with horsepower, ready to eat asphalt.

The burnout was first, a momentary tire spin in order to soften those rear tires. Then both men backed up their cars, revved their engines, and waited with hands gripped tight on the steering wheel. Their eyes were focused, straight forward, bodies pumped and full of adrenaline.

A brunette girl with more chest than brains stepped up in front of them, raised a flag, and then waved it.

Hungry engines roared, pistons pumped and popped, exhausts sang their perfect sound, as the cars blasted off from the starting line in the moon-filled night.

Down the road they went, side by side, cars so evenly matched that neither one could pull away from the other.

The finish line loomed, racing towards them at a blinding speed . . .

The stories in this chilling collection are as follows.

1. The Man from the Road: A man suddenly appears on a road. He’s lost, confused, no clue as to how he got there. He starts to walk and stops suddenly. There’s a bonfire in a field nearby.
