Cover Song Saturday – Lucky Uke: Love Bites

I’m a big time Def Leppard fan, and I have been since “Pyromania.” So it should come as no shock that I am going with the original on this one. It is such a great Power Ballad that it can be argued it was one of the best to come out of the Eighties. You can decide for yourself on that one, but it is a great song no matter what labels you put on it.

With all that said, the cover of this song is truly amazing to listen to. Peppy and upbeat, sounding like something straight out of Hawaii. It is very catchy and very good, but it doesn’t have the edge of the original version. This song was meant to be a Power Ballad and it should always stay that way.

So, original or remake? Are you a big Def Leppard fan?

Cover Song Saturday – Justin Moore: Home Sweet Home

The original

The cover version

So, which do you prefer?

The original hands down for me. It not only takes me back to my teen years, but this song just sounds better with the metal power behind. It just wasn’t meant to be a country song even though Justin Moore really gives it his all.

I don’t know if you have heard about this new blogging platform Niume or not. I stumbled on it a while back and just recently started posting to it. It is set up a lot like WordPress. I’ve posted some cover songs and other things over there. If you want to check it out, here’s the link:

Haiku – The “Fade to Black” Run

Shadows growing thick

Summer’s light fades into fall

Early dusk tonight

Noticing the evening runs when they go long are starting to get dark by the end of them.  It really is the middle of August.  Fall really isn’t too far away.

On a completely different subject.  I stumbled onto this file on my memory stick.  It was at one time a CD called “Monster Ballads Platinum Edition Disc 2.”  I’m not sure where Disc 1 is or if I even had it.  Anyway, I popped that onto my MP3 Player and it has been in constant rotation on my last couple of runs – yes, I am very, very old.

Here’s the lineup:

1. Every Rose Has It’s Thorn | Poison

2. Don’t Know What You Got Til It’s Gone | Cinderella

3. Fly To The Angels | Slaughter

4. Silent Lucidity | Queensryche

5. Love Song | Tesla

6. Is This Love | Whitesnake

7. Forever | Kiss

8. I’ll Never Let You Go | Steelheart

9. Only Time Will Tell | Nelson

10. Winds of Change | Scorpions

11. Angel Song | Great White

12. I’ll See You In My Dreams | Giant

13. More Than Words | Extreme

14. When I’m With You | Sheriff

15. Ballad Of Jayne | L.A. Guns

16. Honestly | Stryper

This song for some reason is the one I keep going back to.  Don’t ask me why, because I’m not sure I enjoyed it all that much when it was popular.
